However, this asset class – private equity, i.e. investment in unlisted companies – has specific characteristics and risks that it is important to understand. What does investing in private equity involve? What is the investment horizon, and what liquidity options are available? What are the potential returns and associated risks? What is the difference between closed-end funds and evergreen funds? These are all concepts it is important to understand in order to approach private equity with confidence.
