Description
In France, too few family businesses are still passed down from one generation to the next, unlike what we see among our German or Italian neighbours. Yet the keys to a successful handover are well known and rest on three closely interlinked pillars.
Firstly, governance: clarifying roles, organising decision-making, preparing everyone’s place within the business and avoiding unspoken issues. Secondly, strategy: formalising a vision, defining a trajectory and setting a shared direction for the family business. Because a business cannot be passed on sustainably if its future direction is unclear.
Once these foundations are in place, business owners can anticipate the legal, tax, people and wealth management aspects of the handover, and seek the right advice. Drawing on these three pillars, this workshop demonstrates how to prepare for the handover in a systematic way, transforming the family business succession into a project for the future rather than a burden to be endured.
